We have a new exciting opportunity, not to be missed! At Grundon we are currently looking for a Transport Manager to join our team based in Colnbrook on a full time, permanent basis. You will be working Monday - Friday, 7.30am - 5.00pm plus one in three Saturday mornings 7.30am - 12.00pm and will receive a competitive salary plus benefits.

About the Transport Manager role

In addition to your normal duties, you will be responsible for assisting the Depot Operations Manager with the safe and efficient operation of the Colnbrook Depot's waste collection services and the defined areas of responsibility within the Depot, including assisting with the supervision of the employees they are responsible for. You will ensure full compliance with all legislation regarding the Depot's activities and in particular the Company's Goods Vehicle Operating Licence. You must make every effort to ensure, through their transport office co-ordinators, drivers and mates, that all customers receive the required service on the due day by using and managing resources available to them.

Key Responsibilities of our Transport Manager will include:

You will assist in the supervision of all employees employed within the Depot Operations Manager's defined area of responsibility and ensure a high level of motivation, discipline and morale is maintained and that individual potential is encouraged and developed where possible with input to enable the Depot Operations Manager to carry out regular reviews and identify any training needs, both on the job and formal, depending on individual circumstances, by:

- Assisting them to ensure that all Company Compliance, Health & Safety and H R policies and procedures are complied with in a fair and consistent manner at all times.

- Assisting them to maintain awareness levels of all employees regarding Health & Safety and Security.

- Assisting them to ensure all new personnel are trained and inducted appropriately at the earliest opportunity in line with Company Policy.

- Assisting them to ensure probation periods are meaningful and reviewed on time identifying any areas of concern early on and taking the necessary corrective or disciplinary action in line with Company Policy.

- Assisting them to ensure attendance is regular and identifying and acting upon absences in line with Company Policy.

- Assisting them to ensure that regular meetings / toolbox talks take place with employees to encourage feedback and to share new ideas in a consistent manner.

- Assisting them to ensure that all mobile workers hours are managed and recorded strictly within the legal regulations in force.

- Assisting them to ensure all accidents and injuries are reported promptly and correctly and that any follow up actions are implemented in a timely way.

- Assisting them to ensure that in conjunction with the Fleet or Workshop Manager or vehicle hire companies that all vehicles are checked and maintained in a fit and road worthy condition at all times in accordance with the Company's Goods Vehicles Operator Licences.

Key Skills & Experience required of our Transport Manager

- Educated to C.S.E, G.C.S.E, N.V.Q or G.N.V.Q standard

- Certificate of Professional Competence or willingness to work towards achieving in a short space of time.

- Full clean driving licence, ideally with LGV Class 2 entitlement.

- Ideally hold, or be willing to attain, a Certificate of Professional Competence.

- Ideally have 2 years' experience within the waste management industry in a supervisory or managerial position with proof of success and effectiveness.

- Computer and IT Literate with a good understanding / working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and databases.

- Good numeric skills to enable an understanding of budgets and manipulation of data for reporting purposes if required to.

- Strong supervisory skills to assist with motivation of subordinates in order to achieve success at the depot.

- Track record of delivery of continuous improvement in the field of Customer Service.
