Are you an experienced Design Manager looking for a new opportunity?
A privately owned contractor with a turnover in excess of GBP60m that work within the Education, Social Housing, Commercial and industrial arena on projects ranging from GBP1m to GBP10m.
Their main driver is to provide first-class customer service and achieve the very highest levels of customer satisfaction in every project undertaken.
They develop strong working partnerships with their clients and supply chain which result in a significant amount of repeat business.
The Role: The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Design input on designated D&B tenders and secured projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the estimating team to evaluate tenders, establish client requirements and manage the design process
- Attend tender launch / adjudication meetings.
- Assist with the production of Contractors Proposals.
- Work with the production team on secured projects to close out design and achieve RFC status.
- Organise, participate and record design review meetings.
- Agree external consultant's responsibility matrix, objectives, fees and information release schedule.
- Manage the flow of design information from external consultants and design subcontractors, and ensure the established timescales are achieved.
- Ensure cost effective solutions are incorporated in the design.
- Investigate VE opportunities where required.
- Manage the transfer of design responsibility from estimating to production.
The Individual should have:
- Proven experience of managing design on multiple projects.
- The ability to organise, plan, programme and manage workloads
- Good knowledge of the design and build process and good technical knowledge
- Be a team player with good communication skills.
- Be commercially aware.
