Senior Material Controller

Due to continued growth an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Material Controller. Reporting to the Operations Manager the successful candidate will supervise the daily function of the Material Control Department, ensuring that all KPI's are achieved in relation to stock control, consumables procurement, stock forecasting, inventory and pricing/discounts.

Responsible for day to day supervision of a small team this is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate with scope for expanding the role and take on more responsibilities. Whilst previous experience within a fast paced manufacturing environment would be an advantage we are mainly looking for someone with a solid background in forecasting, supply and materials management using ERP/MRP systems and who can drive performance and improvement through KPI's.

Key Duties
- Supervise and develop Material Control Department
- Contribute to the development of a ERP system improvements to generate a more efficient working environment
- Plan and manage stock/inventory targets
- Optimise the supply chain ensuring on-time allocation of stock to live jobs
- Ensure raw material costs are kept up to date and viewed periodically
- Manage stock counts and valuation
- Report/contribute to monthly sales meeting in relation to inventory planning / interpreting sales intelligence
- Contribute to stock reduction planning and implementation in relation to current, obsolete and slow moving inventory
- Purchasing ex raw-materials and production consumables
- Managing importation of goods with UK freight forwarder
- Monthly Intrastat reporting
- Future potential to develop purchasing capabilities to assume full responsibility for purchasing and supply management taking responsibility for evaluating suppliers, negotiating contract and reviewing product quality and the supply chain

Essential Skills & Experience
- Assertive and able to supervise a small team
- Previous experience working with ERP, with regard to forecasting, supply and materials mgmt
- Attention to detail, organised and methodical approach
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate at all levels within the business
- Ability to work to critical deadlines
- Good knowledge of production process and procedure
- Commitment to continuous improvement
- Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office)
- Ability to continuously improve all work areas by means of CI and 5S techniques
- Experience of fast pace manufacturing environment - desirable
