Care & Independence Support Worker - Positive Behavioural Focus​ based in Oswestry, Shropshire offering a salary of £16,007. ( This post is term time only, you will work a fixed two week rolling rota and the approximate hours are 3.30pm to 11pm, inclusive of some weekend work)

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Care & Independence Support Worker - Positive Behavioural Focus to join our Care Team. You will support students to develop independent personal care skills and encourage students to assume responsibility for managing themselves in learning and social environments. You will also provide intervention with students in need of behavioural support.

The key role responsibilities of the Care & Independence Support Worker - Positive Behavioural Focus are:

  • Supporting residential care staff with aspects of behavioural management in line with agreed cross college low arousal approach
  • Development of strategies/resources to support students with specific behavioural needs
  • Take an active role in supporting students in preparing for daily and/or evening and/or weekend activities and life skills
  • Facilitate and promote student social integration/inclusion within peer group where appropriate
  • Administration of medication in residence
  • Promote positive behaviour including one-to-one support where required
  • Design and implement daily/weekly positive behaviour support plans
  • Support students toward achievement of psychological and/or behavioural goals
  • Support students in developing personal care skills, according to their care plan and recording of care administered
  • Ensure practice conforms to relevant legislation (i.e. Mental Capacity Act, Protection of Adults at Risk, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards)
  • Contribute to on-going behaviour assessments of students
  • Attend student reviews and relevant meetings when required
  • Work within a framework of collaboration with students and other professionals to enhance the learning and psychological development of students

Person Specification:

  • Proven success of working within a similar role
  • LSA/care qualification – Autism / High Needs 
  • Excellent motivation, communication, team working, networking and negotiation skills with an ability to win confidence and credibility across a broad range of stakeholders
  • Proven ability to forge partnerships and build positive working relationships.
