Buyer - Sourcing
Location: Bristol
Salary: ??26,000 - ??28,000 + Package
Role Description
The Buyer will work as part of a multi-functional team across various bids and sites. This team are responsible for leading strategic sourcing activities and supporting the bid from award to mobilisation into the operational Supply Chain ensuring a smooth and consistent handover.
Responsibilities
* Support new bid work across Defence Systems Technology
* Support development of Strategic Sourcing Strategies
* Manage the relationship with suppliers in line with sourcing strategies lead by Senior/Principal Buyers
* Ensure strategies are implemented and documented effectively
* Prepare and issue RFQ's for difficult and often complex products/services
* Desktop and field market research
* Supplier engagement and visits
* Prepare bid evaluation reports, and in particular, carry out Commercial Evaluation of Quotations and there compliancy
* Negotiate competitive prices, often against a background of demanding target savings and sole source suppliers
* Negotiate Contract Terms and Conditions
* Supply chain risk assessments
* To interface with all levels of management within the business unit and all other interested parties in relation to his/her role
* Engage with the technical and quality teams to ensure there is no compromise on the high quality
* Utilise appropriate tools and techniques to ensure that cost and performance is achieved for our customers
Required Experience / Qualifications
The Candidate should be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of Supply Chain requirements and risks as well as the need to for improved Supplier Relationships.
* Demonstrate good negotiation/commercial skills
* Have the ability to effectively communicate at all levels ensuring Projects are delivered in a timely manner
* Must be capable of prioritising and multi-tasking, and working to an agreed schedule
* Must be self-motivated and be able to work both individually or as part of a team
* Must have a flexible approach to workload
* Must enjoy fast paced and dynamic environment where decision making ability is key
* Should be persistent and results focused
* Have experience of the sourcing process from RFI through to winning a live bid
* Key to this role will be able to deliver to cost saving initiatives
Qualifications and Experience
* Hold, working toward or commitment to study for Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply - Foundation/Practitioner level or equivalent relevant qualification or considerable relevant experience
* Minimum GCSE in Mathematics and English at Grade C
* Appropriate knowledge in supply chain for goods and services
* Bid preparation and analysis experience would be beneficial
* Basic working knowledge in contract/commercial law
* Hands on experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power point and IFS (desirable)
