Role Description

We currently have an opportunity for a Buyer to join our Operational Procurement team working for a FTSE100 Engineering Services organisation in Bristol.

This is a permanent, full time position.

Responsibilities

The Operational Procurement team has a high profile with the Marine Group and currently manage a number of spare and repair contracts for the MoD. The team is currently working towards the full automation of their processes and this will be a first within the Babcock Group.

In this role you will play a key part in the transition, and with the development and improvement of the teams' processes and capabilities. In addition, the successful applicant will help to deliver value along the whole supply chain and work extensively with internal and external stakeholders.

Typical tasks and responsibilities include:

* Ownership and responsibility for all supply chain and procurement aspects of a number of contracts, ensuring delivery and adherence to KPIs.

* Working closely with key suppliers to drive improvements and build relationships.

* Working closely with internal stakeholders throughout supply chain and other areas of the business.

* Playing a key part in continuous improvement initiatives within the team and supporting the current drive towards improving systems and processes.

Required Skills and Experience / Qualifications

Qualifications:

* A recognised degree level qualification and/or relevant engineering/supply chain/lean culture experience.

* Membership of a relevant professional body e.g. CIPS at level 5 or above.

Skills and Experience:

* Proven operational procurement experience.

* Experience of driving and sustaining continuous improvement activities within a changing environment, especially relating to processes and procedures.

* Excellent track record of performance and delivery.

* Experience of working with suppliers to deliver performance improvements.

Attributes:

* Confident, self-motivated and with a flexible approach to workload.

* Excellent communicator with the ability to establish strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

* Comfortable taking responsibility and ownership of initiatives and delivery against requirements.

* Must have a strong capability regarding the use and presentation of data in order to make and inform decisions - excellent skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint preferred.

* A good understanding of the Company business and objectives.

* Holder of a full UK driving licence.
