I have an exciting and challenging opportunity for an experienced Software Implementation Engineer for my key client based in Abingdon. My client are a high growth technology business who are market leaders within the field of digital preservation and storage and their award winning software solution is used by leading commercial and government organisations globally.

As part of their continued expansion they are looking to recruit an experienced Software Implementation Engineer to work very closely with their customers during the integration and implementation of their software solution. Implementations can be dealt with onsite but also remotely and will require a small amount of European travel. This is very much a customer facing role and will require candidates with a good combination of strong technical skills and experience and strong communication and client facing experience.

Responsibilities:

• Delivery and integration of the data preservation solution in customer environments, ensuring technical issues and blockers are resolved
• Participating in technical discussions with customer technology teams to plan adoption and ensure best practices during implementation
• Communicating with the Service Desk on details relevant to customer installations and common issues and liaising with the Pre-Sales and Sales team
• Collaborating with our engineering and product teams to enhance our product in response to customer feedback
• Contributing to the creation and maintenance of documentation and templates that will ensure deliverables are well documented and knowledge transfer is provided
• Going to customers sites to perform installation and knowledge transfer to customer's IT team (travel in Europe: 10-20% of the time)

Skills and Experience:

• Experience deploying web applications on Windows Server 2012 and various Linux versions, as well as Linux Shell Scripting
• Strong working knowledge of web technologies and security practices (SSL, Tomcat, Apache, Firewalls, Proxy/Reverse Proxy, HTTP/HTTPS LDAP)
• In-depth knowledge of directory services, integrating applications with customers' existing infrastructure (Active Directory, OpenLDAP,) and troubleshooting directory access issues in complex configurations
• Knowledge of API Interfaces (CMIS, REST, SOAP, Java) and XML
• Skilled in prioritization, organization and time management, accustomed to working on multiple projects in parallel
• Good knowledge of database Servers (MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgressSQL) would be an advantage
• Proven experience identifying and managing technical risks
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills that you can apply under pressure to solve technical problems and deliver results on time
• Confident and articulate communication skills that you apply in collaboration with customers and colleagues to meet project objectives.
