The Education Workforce Council is the statutory, self-regulating professional body for members of the education workforce in Wales.  It seeks to raise the status of workers in education and training by maintaining and promoting the highest standards of professional practice and conduct in the interests of registrants, learners and the general public.

The Council is seeking to appoint the following:

HIGHER EXECUTIVE OFFICER (HEO) - INITIAL TEACHER EDUCATION (ITE) ACCREDITATION (FIXED-TERM TO 31 DECEMBER 2018)

Purpose of Post:

The Council assumed a new statutory responsibility to accredit programmes of initial teacher education (ITE) in Wales in February 2017.

The postholder will assist the Manager – ITE Accreditation in undertaking a new Council function, responsible for accrediting ITE programmes and monitoring their compliance with Welsh Government criteria.

Key Tasks:

The HEO – ITE Accreditation will:

  • Work with the Manager – ITE Accreditation to develop new arrangements, procedures and systems in order for the EWC (through its ITE Accreditation Board) to accredit programmes from January 2018 in Wales and monitor them thereafter;
  • Assist the Manager – ITE Accreditation in overseeing the process for ITE partnerships to submit their programmes for accreditation and for the Council’s ITE Accreditation Board to assess programmes. This will include the distribution of documentation and the arrangement of meetings and site visits;
  • Assist the Manager – ITE Accreditation and Chair of the ITE Accreditation Board to appoint members of the Accreditation Board and train them;
  • Act as a point of contact for partnerships in preparing their programmes for EWC accreditation and in providing ongoing support thereafter;
  • Attend ITE programme assessments and draft reports setting out decisions and reasons for approval by the ITE Accreditation Board;
  • Liaise with key stakeholders including the ITE Accreditation Board, ITE partnerships, Welsh Government, Estyn, ESCET;
  • Work with the Welsh Government and others in further developing ITE provision in Wales;
  • Contribute to Council / Committee papers, reports and management updates on ITE accreditation as required;
  • Contribute to the Council’s developing policy work in the general area of professional development, professional standards and professional recognition;
  • Undertake other duties as specified by the Chief Executive and Manager – ITE Accreditation.

Bydd y SGU – Achredu AGA yn:

  • Gweithio gyda'r Rheolwr – Achredu AGA i ddatblygu trefniadau, gweithdrefnau a systemau er mwyn i CGA (drwy ei fwrdd Achredu AGA) i achredu rhaglenni o Ionawr 2018 yng Nghymru a'u monitro wedi hynny;
  • Cynorthwyo'r Rheolwr Achredu AGA wrth oruchwylio'r broses ar gyfer partneriaethau AGA i gyflwyno eu rhaglenni ar gyfer achredu ac i Fwrdd Achredu AGA'r Cyngor er mwyn asesu rhaglenni. Bydd hyn yn cynnwys dosbarthu dogfennaeth a threfnu cyfarfodydd ac ymweliadau i safleoedd;
  • Cynorthwyo'r Rheolwr – Achredu AGA a Chadeirydd y Bwrdd AGA wrth benodi aelodau o'r Bwrdd Achredu a'u hyfforddi;
  • Gweithredu fel pwynt cyswllt ar gyfer partneriaethau wrth baratoi eu rhaglenni ar gyfer achredu CGA wrth ddarparu cefnogaeth barhaus wedi hynny;
  • Mynychu asesiadau rhaglen AGA ac adroddiadau drafft yn nodi penderfyniadau a'r rhesymau dros gymeradwyo gan Fwrdd Achredu AGA;
  • Cysylltu â rhanddeiliaid allweddol gan gynnwys y Bwrdd AGA Achredu, partneriaethau AGA, Llywodraeth Cymru, Estyn, ESCET;
  • Gweithio gyda Llywodraeth Cymru ac eraill wrth ddatblygu darpariaeth AGA yng Nghymru ymhellach;
  • Cyfrannu at bapurau'r Cyngor / Pwyllgor, adroddiadau a diweddariadau rheoli ar achrediad AGA yn ôl y gofyn;
  • Cyfrannu at waith polisi sy'n datblygu'r Cyngor ym meysydd cyffredinol datblygiad proffesiynol, safonau proffesiynol a chydnabyddiaeth broffesiynol;
  • Ymgymryd â dyletswyddau eraill fel y nodir gan y Prif Weithredwr a'r Rheolwr – Achredu AGA.
