The Role:
As Warehouse manager you will direct all warehousing operations. You will oversee the efficient receipt, storage, value-adding servicing and dispatch of a wide variety of frozen, chilled and ambient products.
You will ensure productivity targets are achieved and that all warehouse processes are running smoothly and promptly.
• Planning the delivery and dispatch of goods
• Monitoring and setting aside storage space
• Accurately tracking stock levels using computer programs
• Planning work rotas for warehouse staff in line with seasonal requirements
• Responsible for security arrangements of the warehouse and site
• Liaise with customers and suppliers.
• Plan, coordinate and monitor the receipt, order, assembly and dispatch of goods
• Use space and mechanical handling equipment efficiently, making sure quality, budgetary targets and environmental objectives are met
• Have a clear understanding of the company's policies and vision and how the warehouse contributes to these
• Coordinate the use of automated and computerised systems where necessary; ERP system
• Respond to and deal with customer communication by email and telephone
• Keep stock control systems up to date and make sure inventories are accurate
• Ensure all despatch paperwork systems are accurately completed in full in a timely manner whilst ensuring expected service levels are continually met.
• Plan future capacity requirements
• Organise the recruitment and training of staff, as well as monitoring staff performance and progress
• Maintaining staffing levels for the warehouse by recruiting, selecting, and training employees.
• Maintain warehouse results by employee coaching, counselling, and disciplining; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
• Motivate, organise and encourage teamwork within the workforce to ensure productivity targets are met or exceeded
• Produce regular reports and statistics on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
• Attend and report to the Daily Management meeting.
• Brief Warehouse Supervisors and operatives on a daily basis
• Maintain standards of health and safety and Hygiene in the work environment ensuring GMP are met with Food Safety being paramount.
• Scheduling the planned maintenance of Warehouse vehicles, machinery and equipment
The Person:
• Relevant CILT (UK) Level 3 Certificates, such as the Certificate in Logistics and Transport or equivalent.
• Excellent Health & Safety Knowledge and safe working practices within a warehouse environment
• Significant management experience in a multi temperature food environment.
• Valid Fork Lift Licence (Counter Balance and Reach)
• Experience of External and Internal Forklift Operations and multi-use manual/powered trucks.
• Proven experience of meeting strict despatching deadlines on a daily basis
• Experience of working with UK Major Multiple Retailers within the UK and Abroad
• IT Literate with hands on experience of computerised stock management systems (ERP/MRP)
• Experience and exposure to dealing with complex customer requirements and working with internal teams to proactively forward customer relationships
• Enthusiastic, can do attitude, spending time leading and driving the team
• Exceptional organisational skills with attention to detail
• Excellent people management and communication skills
• Able to prioritise effectively to produce positive results
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work openly and collaboratively at all levels.
• Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
