Managing Editor (maternity cover)



Macmillan Publishers Ltd is looking for a Managing Editor with knowledge of print and digital publishing, to work across our portfolio of ELT courses. This position is a maternity contract to start in May 2017. We expect this to last a minimum of 9 months with the possibility of extension to 12.



We are at the forefront of developing cutting-edge online and print products aimed at the international English Language Learning market. Working in the Editorial Services team, and working closely with the Publishers and in-house commissioning teams, the Managing Editor will play a key role overseeing a wide variety of components from manuscript handover to final delivery. The successful applicant will work closely with freelance editors and in-house design and production departments to ensure that material meets market and customer requirements, and that all components are delivered on time and to budget.



The ideal candidate will possess:



Strong organisational, project management and editorial skills
Knowledge of both print and digital delivery schedules
The ability to manage a varied and demanding workload
The ability to work within a cross-functional team and to work independently
Strong communication and negotiation skills
A can-do, positive attitude and commitment to aims of the department
Experience of working on ELT titles or within ELT teaching
