Job Title: Technology Resilience Manager

Reports to: Head of Service Resilience

Overall Purpose of Role:

A technologist with deep and broad knowledge of infrastructure, utilising that expertise to partner with Infrastructure Services and Application Management to deliver technical solutions and processes that support the Barclays resilience agenda.

Key Accountabilities and Skills Required:

Technology Resilience (60%)
Work with Technology to define and document a new technical invocation process that meets the increasingly rigorous requirements of the business and regulators. The new process needs to be consistent across all datacentres and scalable to multiple recovery scenarios up to a complete loss of data centre. Drive implementation of the new invocation process by facilitating technical workshops to resolve issues, remove obstacles and refine the approach. Play a major role in moving the invocation process from a proof of concept to an adopted standard process across Barclays. This will include the transition of the revised approach in to a 'business as usual' function. Define detailed procedures and guidance to support the implementation of the Technology Resilience Standard. This new Standard includes a wide set of new requirements and best practice guidance will be required to minimise impact on Technology teams whilst maximising value of the Standard. Support the definition and implementation of new resilience models, including the use of external cloud. Provide support, guidance and advice to colleagues and be a source of technical expertise within the Group Resilience function.
Governance (15%)
Escalate and effectively manage non-conformance with Standard for Resilience architecture and solutions to Technology Resilience Strategic Lead. Actively communicate and maintain awareness of Resilience objectives and standards within Technology functions. Work closely with Service Design and Project functions to define Resilience requirements and ensure they are taken into account up front in the architecture of any new or changed service. Be a subject matter expert resource to technology functions to aid response and closure of Audit points.
Risk Management (10%)
Escalate and effectively manage non-conformance with policy for DR architecture and solutions. Understand, articulate and monitor risk mitigation progress actions required by the technical community, the business units and third party suppliers. Seek opportunity to provide early warning where Technology components of F2BPs are not compliant with the Resilience Standard
Relationship Management (15%)
Build and maintain relationships with all appropriate Infrastructure Services, Application Support, Architect Office, Resilience Partners and Supplier Management. Act as advisor to projects, Clients and the technical community to ensure Resilient Technology is implemented and meets the Business Unit requirements. Champion Resilience within Barclays
Define and drive process improvements on an ongoing basis. Promote best practice.

Risk and Control:

Your Skills and Qualifications will Include
High levels of literacy to read, understand, interpret and communicate Resilience requirements and issues. Good all round technologist with broad technical knowledge of complex infrastructure across a range of disciplines. Specific Technologies : Database Storage Middleware Network Cloud Solutions Cyber Security High level of communication skills both written and oral. Able to describe technically complex subjects to non technical areas in a straightforward and comprehensive manner. Ability to influence management and staff at a senior level. Understand at a high level the interface between complex business needs and the IT infrastructure upon which the business functionality depends Ability to quickly acquire missing knowledge specifically regarding sub-standard Resilience capabilities and risks to the continuity of business/service An innovative and self-motivating outlook. Ability to plan, prioritise and organise own workload, selecting and utilising appropriate methods, procedures, tools, equipment and standards, to meet all targets set. Ability to build dynamic, in depth working relationships to achieve trusted partner status Adept at identifying and quantifying Operational Risks and acceptable performance measures.
