We are looking to expand our capabilities in the technology, digital and software sectors to deal with significant growth in our UK business in these areas. This is an area of major focus for PwC in the UK and globally, and a key part of PwC's growth strategy.

The work is demanding, the deals are varied, and no day will be the same. You will be able to assimilate information quickly, get to the heart of a deal and advise the business on the legal, commercial and reputational issues that arise.

You will work closely with our delivery teams, you will have direct access to our clients and their legal team and will act very much as the face of PwC in technology transactions and development. The existing team is highly valued by the business and we are very much seen as business enablers.

The role is based in Central London at our award winning Embankment Place offices.

The Role

The need for an additional senior member of the legal team arises due the ever increasing needs of the business as a result of its strategy for technology growth and innovation.

The legal team is a highly experienced, well established and supportive group of professionals, who are highly regarded by and well networked to the business, who have strong relationships with a wide range of senior professionals in the organisation, including at Executive Board level.

The successful applicant will join our in house legal team's Commercial Contracting group, and will lead and develop our team advising on all technology related initiatives.

The role would be specifically to:
Advise on and negotiate a wide range of deals for the development, licensing and exploitation of software Advise on the intellectual property and data protection aspects of any given deal. Become a trusted adviser to business leaders and proactively lead the legal aspects of our technology strategy for the future. Work in collaboration with the wider network on both internal and external technology initiatives Advise on acquisitions, new business start ups, deal structures and joint ventures with an IT focus. Consult with and work closely as part of the in house legal team.
What are the role requirements?
Detailed knowledge of English Law, at least 8+ years PQE (or equivalent) Worked in-house for a technology/software company, or if in a law firm you will have worked with clients in the technology, digital and software sectors ; Proven track record in negotiating deals for the development, licensing and other forms of commercial exploitation of IP; Working knowledge of data protection and the forthcoming challenges of GDPR will be an advantage; Ability to handle complex negotiations using sound judgment to ensure that the firm's best interests are served; Ability to gain a full appreciation of the wider reputational, commercial and business aspects of each deal; Ability to tailor advice to the specific needs of the business and apply common sense and practical solutions in a fast moving environment with new challenges arising every day; Ability to adapt, to change and to be open minded and innovative in your thinking; Ability to lead a team and take a strategic perspective; Strong drafting skills and the ability to flex communication style to suit a particular situation; Sound judgment and well developed influencing skills, together with the confidence to work with senior management across the business; An ability to build strong relationships and become a trusted advisor to the business; Appetite to learn and develop.
