Architectural Technician
LawsonKeys are currently working with a growing Architectural Practice based in Leighton Buzzard in the search for an Architectural Technician or Architectural Technologist to join the team on a permanent basis. EXPIRES- 04/03/2017
General Summary:
A small Planning and Architectural Practice that works predominantly in the residential sector are seeking an Architectural Technician. The company has been operating for a number of years and has built up core clients. These clients range from National house Builders, domestic projects and Housing Association Projects.
For this position you will be expected to take a site from inception, through the initial scoping and planning application stages and the detailed design of the development to enable construction on site Workloads do vary so flexibility is key.
The principle software the company use are AutoCAD, Sketch-Up and Photoshop, although Revit is being considered for the future.
The typical candidate will have a good extent of experience in the residential sector via either direct experience from working for Developers or as a Consultant. They will need a sound knowledge and some practical experience of how the planning system operates and the various stages involved in bringing land forward for development. Implicit in this will be an understanding of the role of other Consultants in the design process and a working knowledge of the information and data they produce and how it fits into the overall design programme.
They will need to have a good working knowledge of low rise, masonry and timber framed construction methods, the requirements of Building Regulations/NHBC and other approving bodies. Also, ideally they should have proven design skills in the housing sector.
The candidate should have good communication skills with both Clients and other consultants they will need to work with and those who are part of the approvals process, such as Planning officers and Building control.
They should also be confident of working in a small team environment and of taking on a variety of workloads in order to bring forward the finished product.
