The Role

The Predictive Modelling/Insight Analyst will be responsible for the development of predictive models and delivery of analytical insights to drive key strategies across the MBNA business. The role holder will partner with stakeholders across the business including Credit Risk Strategies, Business Development & Marketing, Finance, Digital, Innovation, Technology, Data Warehouse.

In role, the successful candidate will leverage their statistical modelling, problem solving and analytical skills to help drive efficiency, financial benefits and improved customer outcomes across a range of business areas. Through development and deployment of powerful statistical models and delivery of deep business insight they will have the opportunity to further develop their modelling and analytical capability in addition to strengthening project and stakeholder management skills .

The successful candidate will also support a controlled business environment, partnering with Model Risk Management and control functions to ensure that relevant policy and procedures are followed and that a high degree of accuracy exists within their work.

Key Responsibilities

- Responsible for development of predictive models / scorecards and other advanced analytical toolsets across a range of business areas including targeting and optimisation of marketing activities, assessment of credit risk, behavioural modelling and fraud detection.
- Responsible for production of interpretive analysis / insight into business issues and trends including performance of predictive models. Formulate conclusions and recommendations from the analysis and influence relevant stakeholders to drive improved decision making across the business.
- Participation in end-to-end project activities, including engagement with key stakeholders to agree project requirements and formulating project plans. Working accurately and with minimal supervision to deliver to expectations.
- Building understanding of business performance, objectives and strategies. Engaging actively with key stakeholders to understand business requirements and to develop appropriate data-driven solutions.
- Ensuring compliance of all work with relevant procedural and governance requirements. Engaging with Model Risk Management function to manage the on-going compliance of all models.

Skills and Experience

Essential:

- Technical capability - Use of SAS or similar software / programming languages to interrogate databases, construct and manipulate analytical datasets to support delivery of insight and modelling projects.
- Microsoft Office experience - Strong working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.
- Analytical capability - Strong analytical and numerical skills and ability to convert business problems in to actionable data-driven modelling and insight solutions.
- Model development - Experience in the development, deployment, maintenance and monitoring of predictive models using techniques such as regression and CHAID.
- Strong verbal and written communication - Ability to clearly convey complex analytical findings to non-technical/statistical stakeholders across all levels of the organisation.

Preferred :

- Financial Services Experience - Understanding of the value of predictive models and other advanced analytical techniques within the Financial Services companies .
- Stakeholder Management - Ability to liaise confidently with stakeholders across the business to understand business issues / requirements and deliver solutions to meet stakeholder requirements.
- Strong Business Acumen - Deep understanding of how the business P&L works and how business strategy can impact its key drivers.
- Insight - Experience in delivery of insight, analytics or strategy building/tracking and recommending appropriate actions.
- Advanced Excel - Ability to build graphs, pivot tables and use mathematical and statistical functions.
- Advanced analytical / data mining tools - Experience in / awareness of the application of advanced data mining and analytical approaches (e.g. optimisation, clustering, forecasting, text analytics).
