As the Engineeringf Manager of a first tier automotive supplier you will be expected to manage and co-ordinate the Engineering Department - comprising of Production Engineers, Project Engineers, within the defined scope of responsibility
*Establish and maintain (in consultation and agreement with line manager) the scope of responsibility for the Engineering Department
*Determine standard working methods for the Engineering Department
*Establish Engineering Department policies for method and output quality that satisfy ISO/TS 16949, ISO 14001 and the requirements of our internal/external customers
*Monitor the engineering department's compliance with Engineering Department policies and working methods
*Compliance to company EHS policy
*Provide advice on solutions to technical issues where able (NB the Programme Team are responsible for finding new solutions where required for specific projects)
*Review/approval of final design and drawings prior to official release
*Review/approval of Engineering Change Requests
*Monitor ECR process to progress changes in a timely manner
*Control and manage labour utilisation within the department in accordance with the requirements of customer programmes, internal projects and departmental tasks
*Work towards resolution of conflicts of priority between separate projects. Communicate and agree priorities between sales, project management and operations
*Support RFQ process through review of Engineering Statement of Work (or equivalent) in conjunction with sales, operations and propose D&D budgets
*Manage and implement the Performance Management Process through appraisals with all members of the Engineering Department. Monitor and assess agreed targets and arrange for identified training needs to be fulfilled
*Identify the skills and capabilities required for the Engineering Department members to complete their allocated tasks, arrange training where individuals abilities do not meet requirements
*Develop the Engineering Departments facilities, hardware and software to enable fulfilment of allocated tasks
*Develop appropriate synergies with other engineering functions within the group.
*Establish, agree and manage Engineering Department budgets
Maintain an effective relationship with 'internal' and 'external' customers
Knowledge of business goals and objectives
House keeping standards (5S)
Awareness of health & safety requirements and adherence to policy
Pragmatic approach to environment changes
Ability to work as a team
Good overall understanding of all the disciplines associated with designing and
manufacturing automotive components
Pragmatic approach to problem resolution
IT & Computer literacy
