Senior Quality Engineer

Would you like the opportunity to influence the strategy whilst supporting the Devonshire Dock Complex (DDC) teams in the day to day delivery of a quality product? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Quality Engineer at our site in Barrow.

As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for a direct team of a Quality Manager, Quality Leader, a number of Team Leaders and a number of DDC based Quality Inspectors. The role will also report into the General Manager for the DDC as part of the Build Delivery Organisation.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to influence and change the quality performance of the DDC area and hence impact the overall quality performance and culture of the business. You will be working alongside several other business functions so offers great opportunities to develop strong networks and have input into the inspection requirements for the future.


Your main responsibilities as a Senior Quality Engineer will involve:

Leading and developing the team to achieve their work programme, meeting all performance measures (safety, quality, cost, delivery, and people)

Communicating effectively with the team, management and customer both internal and external

Managing team communication in line through a visual management approach

Taking responsibility for the performance management of the team, including performance reviews in line with the company process

Maintaining a safety culture that is compliant with all company and health and safety legislation

Effectively managing resources and activities to meet any set programme

Supporting and maintaining the build delivery organisation including the encouragement and maintenance of continual improvement of processes


Your skills and qualifications:

Essential

Heavy manufacturing and/or engineering experience
Previous experience engaging with numerous stakeholders
Proficient user of Microsoft Office packages and confident in producing and reading reports and presentations

Some quality background/knowledge

Previous experience of managing a multi-skilled team
Desirable

Quality inspection knowledge - in areas such as NDE/NDT, structural steelwork, paint inspection, dimensional control, etc.
Experience of reading technical drawings
Familiar with tools such as SAP, ERP tools, Team Centre etc.
