Our vision is to make Lloyds Banking Group the best bank for customers. As the UK's largest retail and commercial bank, we have a footprint that touches nearly every community and household in the UK. That gives us a big responsibility to support the UK economy, and to put customers at the heart of everything we do. To achieve this, we also need to be the best bank for our colleagues and our communities - and we have a clear strategy in place to make this a reality. We are building on our many strengths: iconic brands, strong heritages and great people. To unlock the great potential in our business, we are becoming more efficient, more transparent, and more responsive to customers. Already the UK's largest community investor, we are giving even more back. Above all, we are putting customers first.

To help Britain prosper, everyone in the Group is working to meet the needs of families, businesses and communities across the UK.

You'll be joining Group Tax, who manage a wide range of tax payment, deduction and reporting obligations both for the Group's own account and also for its customers and colleagues. These obligations involve ensuring that the Group is in full compliance with all of it's statutory obligations, the Banking Code of Practice and that our tax costs are managed within the Group's risk appetite.

Within the VAT and Operational Taxes team, you'll be making a difference by providing a professional level of support to Senior VAT colleagues, in respect of managing the Group's VAT and IPT obligations. This'll include providing technical and analytical support during the preparation and review of the Group's LBG quarterly VAT returns.
You'll also be:
* assisting with accounting entries, payment and reconciliations
* maintaining VAT databases and notifying HMRC as appropriate
* providing accurate and comprehensive basic VAT advice to business areas
* keeping abreast of business and technical developments in VAT and/or IPT
* helping with the implementation and communication of changes.

Your background is likely to be in Finance or a large Professional Services consultancy and you'll need to demonstrate your specialist knowledge of VAT principles and a good understanding of accounting principles. Excellent PC Skills, including a good working knowledge of Excel are required.

You'll also have the interpersonal and communication skills needed to build and maintain effective working relationships with senior managers, your internal customers and HM Revenue and Customs.

And whilst you may have already completed your professional qualifications, this isn't a requirement. In fact, if you have the skills we're looking for and are yet to start your exams, we can support you in studying for them. What is essential is your technical capability, including strong analytical skills.

In return, you can take the next step in your career in an exciting and challenging environment, were the breadth of opportunities open to you reflects the size and scale of our organisation.

We're passionate about diversity in the workplace and support agile working. Whilst the majority of the time you'll need to be in our Halifax office, we're open to discussing a variety of working styles and options to meet your needs - including occasional home working and other flexible options. And as making you feel valued is important, we'll offer a highly competitive salary and rewards package.

So if this sounds like your ideal next role and you have the skills and background we're looking for, we'd like to hear from you.
