Credit Manager

Bristol based

£30k - £35k per annum 

The Credit Manager will be responsible for managing the Credit Control Team in the chasing of outstanding invoices, ensuring the accuracy of invoices submitted, posting and allocating cash, client records & performing reconciliations. Experience of carrying out credit checks, to assess the financial strength of a company is also desirable. A history of building strong client relationships, whilst maximising cash flow is essential.

Duties

Duties include:

  • Debtor Management for New Business Clients , Transactional Debtors, Public Sector Debtors and all Permanent Sales Invoices within Payment Terms
  • Management and Debt Collection for All Permanent Sales Invoices within Payment Terms
  • Debtor Reporting for Risk and Escalation Clients to Directors for action
  • Euler Hermes Insurance Policy Administration and reporting
  • Credit Analysis for Debtor Balances versus Credit Limits & Credit Referencing Coordination
  • Credit Limit Breach Management and Re-application for Higher Credit Limits
  • RBS ID Debtor Reporting & Compliance
  • Implementation of Client Invoice Processes into Accounts and Credit Control
  • General Support for Credit Control
  • Manages all HR responsibilities, including annual leave and performance reviews
  • Anticipates developments and identifies accounts that will require special attention
  • Handles disputed accounts and negotiates to bring payment into line with terms
  • Undertakes complex reconciliations when required, and compiles documentation for legal action where necessary
  • Maintains accurate individual measurement and performance statistics
  • Obtains sufficient information to assess the creditworthiness of new and existing customers
  • Works within guidelines and reports to the Group Financial Controller
  • Interacts well with customers and departmental colleagues, e.g. sales
  • Managing relationships with the clients in order to reduce exposure to potential bad debt.
  • Showing a genuine desire to hit targets

Always being conscious of ways to improve own and team performances, and make suggestions to the Group Financial Controller

Person Specification

  • Proven success in a credit control role
  • Team player and a pro-active participant in the finance team
  • Strong yet Personable character/style.
  • Ability to work independently, proactive and self motivated.
  • Experience with dealing with UK and international clients, both SME & corporate
  • Excellent communication skills, telephone manner and technique and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • An understanding of credit control practices and collection processes including the legal collections processes and their constraints

Education

Essential :

  • Comfortable in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Good negotiation skills with the ability to assess issues and be assertive with debtors
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of processed information

Desirable :

  • AAT, or equivalent
  • ICM Qualified

Experience

Essential :

  • Well rounded general experience.
  • Team-working within a busy office environment.
  • Good understanding of balance sheet analysis, credit risk, financial exposure and setting credit limits
  • B2B Collections

Desirable :

  • Experience in a recruitment company
  • Experience of working with international clients
  • Experience of going through a change in billing platforms
