Do you have experience with ASD/ESBD pupils within an SEN environment?

One of my wonderful SEN schools in Plymouth are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and passionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant. This is a mixed special needs school with young people aged between 4 - 16 years old who have various learning difficulties such as emotional, behavioural, social difficulties, Autism and mental health issues. You will be working with the lower ability and age groups, making this a challenging role but truly rewarding for the right person with the right skill set and enjoys a challenge.

As part of the schools drive to promote teaching and learning, to challenge pupils and raise attainment they are specific on the individual they are wishing to attract. You will have experience working with young people who have SEN, a calm temperament with a passion for special needs and supporting ASD pupils. The young people within this school do range from moderate to severe, so an ability to work with challenging behaviour is desirable. A large part of the success of this school is down to the 1:1 provisions for their pupils, so classes are small and effective, some pupils within these classes are can be non verbal. Additional training will be provided, but current experience will be an advantage when being short-listed.
