We operate an in house e-Fulfilment operation, picking, packing and dispatching customer orders via a multi carrier delivery network. The e-Fulfilment operation is part of our National Retail Distribution Centre in Coventry. We are now looking to recruit a first line shift manager for the fulfilment centre. The role has excellent career prospects and requires a manager of exceptional ability who is flexible and committed.

First Line Shift Manager Role:

Reporting to the e-Fulfilment Operations Manager, it will be your responsibility to lead your team, set the priorities and achieve a varied set of challenging objectives in a highly seasonal environment. You will focus on achieving the highest standards of team motivation, order fulfilment, customer service, inventory management and productivity.

First Line Shift Manager main functional areas of responsibility are:

• Goods in
• Storage of reserve product (pallet / case)
• Replenishment of live pick faces (case /piece)
• Batch order picking
• Order consolidation, packing and despatch
• Cycle counting

The main First Line Shift Manager responsibilities of the role will be:

• To manage the running of a dynamic operation that is based on an extended single shift for 40 weeks, building to a 24/7 operation from October to Christmas.
• During the non-peak period you will work alongside the FC Operations Manager and another experienced First Line Shift Manager, learning how our operation runs in terms of systems and SOP. You will assist in team development and resource planning for the massive peak in season.
• To drive accurate receipt of stock to reserve locations and the continual replenishment of pick faces.
• Ensure all orders are dispatched within SLA, ensuring the best experience for our customers.
• Provide confident shift management and leadership at all times with great teamwork, information flow and shift handovers.
• Engage, empower and develop all team members and build on our experienced and committed permanent team, using both short term contract and agency resources.
• Co-operate closely with the operations management team in the Retail DC, ensuring that team members and supervisors are cross trained and flexible.
• Manage and lead the shift including, health & safety and loss prevention requirements.
• Control technical equipment such as wrist mounted scanners and liaise with IT regarding systems and hardware support.
• Continually assess processes to improve customer service, productivity, efficiency and accuracy.

The ideal First Line Shift Manager:

You will be an experienced Manager and be able to confidently lead and motivate permanent and seasonal team members. You will have excellent organisational and operating skills. Each shift will flex, building to circa one hundred heads in peak, utilising short term contract and agency staff, part-time and weekend only workers. Excellent shift planning, set up, T&A management and shift handover is vital.Toys R Us operates in a very seasonal sector which builds from a single shift operation for nine months to a 24/7 operation from October to Christmas. You must have a positive attitude, loads of energy and provide a high level of flexibility and commitment particularly during peak. The role will include weekend working and unsociable hours during our busiest period for you and your team.
