The Mott MacDonald highways division delivers services across the entire lifecycle of a project. Whether we are planning, designing and implementing new roads, or maintaining, managing, improving and operating existing highway networks, we deliver innovation, cost certainty and added value through collaborative working with clients and a culture of continuous improvement.

The highways design services sub-division is primarily based in the UK, delivering projects to clients such as Highways England and Transport Scotland. We specialise in design and construction, progressing schemes from option identification and appraisal through preliminary and detail design to supervision of works on site. We also provide advice on procurement options and administer contracts from tender assessment, through interim valuations to settlement of final accounts. We are currently looking for to recruit a project planner to support the project teams.

Job Description

You will be working with multi-disciplinary teams, create fully logic linked project schedules from first principles, being aware of the interfaces and relationships between those work streams as appropriate.

*Creating baseline plans, budget and resource loading, monitoring and capturing progress, development of mitigation plans and what-if scenarios
*Comparison of current schedule information with the appropriate baseline and reporting
*Calculating earned value including SPI and CPI
*Providing planning and scheduling support to the project teams and senior management
*Providing a significant contribution to "collaborative planning" sessions
*Training and mentoring

Candidate Specification

For this role we would expect you to have the following:

*A degree in a construction or engineering subject.
*Working towards a relevant professional qualification
*Proficient in using Primavera P6 planning tools is essential
*MS Project experience would be desirable
*Demonstrable planning experience in construction or an engineering based project environment in both the design and implementation phases
*An understanding of risk management techniques and the interpretation and representation of risk in project schedules
*Experience of working in large teams and for taking responsibility for their own and for assistant planners output

*Degree in Project Management in Construction or equivalent experience
*Project planning experience on construction projects
*Experience as a project planner on highway design projects
