Site Manager

ROLE
Reporting to the Operations Director, you will have responsibility and accountability for the overall performance and development of my clients business delivering first class solutions typically to the following markets; Commercial Construction, New-build and Refurbishment Construction, New-build and refurbishment Housing, Regeneration works, Rail infrastructure and Special Projects. You will be responsible for promoting a Target Zero Culture throughout the business, ensuring all activities are performed in accordance with IIS's and the client's HSE standards and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
-You will provide effective leadership by promoting the highest standard of business practice, the company culture, values and ethics through your own behavior.
-As part of the Management team you will assist in the development of company Policy and Strategy to meet the needs of its stakeholders. You will ensure that objectives, targets and processes are developed and followed at all levels within your business unit to ensure the overall company objectives are achieved.
-Through the development of internal and external relationships you shall ensure that appropriate resources are available to effectively support the policy and strategy of the business.
-Through the implementation of company management systems within your business unit you shall ensure that you meet policy and strategy whilst generating increased value for customers and stakeholders.
-Develop a 3-year Business Plan for your business unit, updating as appropriate.
-Develop growth and positioning strategy for the Access Markets.
-Develop Objectives and Targets at all levels within your business unit to meet overall company Objectives and Targets.
-Co-operate with, and implement the reasonable directives of the Operations Director.
-Implement and communicate Management systems and processes throughout the business, including Health and Safety, Quality and Environment.
-Develop long term relationships with clients in accordance with Business Plan and identify sufficient opportunities with them to meet Budgets and Plans.
-Ensure tenders and offers by the company are properly carried out and reviewed in order that they do not present unacceptable risk to the business and also ensuring compliance with contractual responsibilities.
-Ensure staffing levels are met, including future needs and contingency and are trained and developed to be competent for the risks they carry out.
-Ensure that risks to the business are properly reviewed and appropriately controlled.
-Understand and achieve statutory requirements for activities within your business units.
-Anticipate and identify key issues affecting Business Unit objectives and priorities.
-Develop strategies and solutions associated with the project, and manage their implementation, optimising cost, schedule and performance activities.
-Manage the implementation of the Business Unit HR policy, ensuring that all personnel are Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel (SQEP).
-Ad hoc duties as requested by the Operations Director.
-Be aware of the business continuity plan for the part of the business you work in.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
-Significant experience in the Access industry at a comparable level to this position.
-Experience of operating in this region in the Access Industry.
SMTD or equivalent supervisory management training (lower levels of qualification will need to be augmented by significant supervisory management experience).
-Experience of leading a profitable business with a turnover of between GBP3m and GBP5M.
-Professional Membership and or Member of institution e.g. associate level.
-A demonstrable record of a thorough understanding and working knowledge of site rules and Safety Standards in the targeted markets.
-Thorough understanding of current health and safety legislation approved codes of practice and guidance notes.
-Understanding and experience of working with Microsoft packages / competent user of computer.
-Experience of project managing work within a customer focused environment including understanding the operation of a major Site.
-Must be a hands on leader, must possess excellent interpersonal skills in order to facilitate effective communication between all parties involved with the Business Unit.
