We are seeking a highly driven, enthusiastic individual to take up the post of Training Manager at the newly established Wellcome Centre for Anti-Infectives Research (CAIR), University of Dundee. CAIR builds on world-leading work at the University, including within the Drug Discovery Unit (DDU), to find new drugs to treat neglected tropical diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis and leishmaniasis (see ).

The successful applicant will take a leading role in developing, implementing and overseeing the strategy and delivery of all of CAIR's training activities.

A key aspect of the training programme will be providing our trainees with 12 month on-the-job, hands-on practical training as full team members within an ongoing infectious disease project, developing the trainees' own discipline (e.g. medicinal/synthetic chemistry, biology, pharmacokinetics) expertise, while providing exposure to all other aspects of the drug discovery matrix. A focus will be on participation of trainees from developing world countries with ongoing training and advice that will encompass setting up a sustainable drug discovery laboratory/centre in the trainee's originating location. The Training Manager will work closely with a number of organisations across the world to develop collaborative relationships and identify potential trainees.
Applicants will have a minimum of a science degree, together with training experience gained working in a research and/or development environment, preferably within the BioPharmaceutical industry.

• With the DDU team, develop a drug discovery training course that could be run at collaborating centres
• Line manage a team of three discipline trainers (in target/assay biology, medicinal chemistry and DMPK)
• Ensure integration of the training team and trainees with the ongoing DDU drug discovery projects to maximise the impact of the training
