Who we are looking for
At PwC, our Capital Project Services (CPS) team primarily consists of multi-disciplined Engineers with a wide range of capital projects and infrastructure related backgrounds who have joined us from industry. Our team is currently expanding and we're seeking talented, high performing, industry professionals to join us across all levels of experience within our Manchester regional office.
Any business that embarks on a programme of capital investment faces new risks that can impact both the capital investment and the wider organisation and that's where we come in. Our CPS team advises clients on the business issues relating to the delivery of capital projects, including dispute resolution, delay analysis, project reviews, organisational design, project controls and project and programme management.
If you enjoy working with high profile clients and would relish the chance to see the bigger picture, then our CPS team at PwC will provide you with that opportunity. You'll have the opportunity to work on high-profile, international projects that will enable you to reach your full potential.
The role requires significant flexibility & mobility, with national & international travel often required.
If you'd like to know more about our people, their backgrounds and the sorts of projects that they're currently involved in, please take a look at some of our team profiles where you can 'meet the team' at our website.
Requirements
As a Chartered or near Chartered Engineer, you'll have a background in project management covering the technical, financial and commercial aspects of contracts. You'll also have experience in the design or implementation of large, complex projects.
As well as good practical work experience, ideally gained within a large contractor, consultancy or client organisation, you'll have working knowledge/experience of:
Consulting with clients in a capital projects environment
Project management experience
Construction methods/techniques
Design management and co-ordination
Estimating and financial management (preparing cost and value reports, cost forecasts, etc)
Contractual arrangements
Approaches for the valuation and assessment of claims
Experience of using critical path planning software (Primavera P6 or MS Project)
Excellent IT skills
Additional experience which would be very relevant includes:
Advising clients on risks relating to capital projects
Providing assurance to stakeholders on capital projects
Knowledge of contract law
Asset Management in Power, Utilities and Transport or other relevant industry sectors
Consulting or delivery experience in the IT industry
Responsibilities
If you're successful you'll work in multi-disciplinary teams undertaking client work which includes for example:
Managing and delivering assignments
Working as part of a team or independently depending on the size of the assignment
Developing client relationships
Face-to-face contact with clients and their professional advisors
You'll be joining a team who welcome your outlook and knowledge, whilst developing your skill set further within one of the world's leading professional organisations. With an increasingly agile workforce, we're open to flexible working requirements where appropriate and have many successful arrangements currently in place.
Please apply if you have a keen interest in the work we do and please note we have opportunities in London as well as Manchester
