Join our team! Be a Support Worker with United Response in Maidstone

Join us a Support Worker and you can help make good things happen in the lives of young adults with learning disabilities. It’s a job that comes with full training, great rewards, real prospects – and a genuine sense of job satisfaction.

Who we are

United Response is a leading national charity providing support to young people and adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs. We believe in championing the right of disabled people to live, work, socialise and participate in the community, free of discrimination and unnecessary boundaries.

Welcome to our Maidstone service

You’ll be joining the team in our John Street service. The team provides 24-hour support to a small group of people with a variety of physical and learning disabilities, some combined with sensory loss and wheelchair dependency, plus one person who lives in his own home. Our aim is to give them all as much control as possible over their own lives.

Make it happen – your role

You’ll have a responsible role that’s really varied, sometimes challenging, and also rewarding. The job is all about giving people encouragement, guidance and support. These are some of the activities you could soon be supporting – in addition to the day-to-day routines of cooking, cleaning, laundry and personal care, there are opportunities to facilitate trampolining, physio and hydrotherapy sessions, going shopping or visiting a local pub.

About you

We welcome people from all walks of life. You don’t need specific qualifications but if you have experience with supporting people with challenging behaviour, that would be an advantage. You might be creative with communication, or familiar with relaxation techniques, or just up for learning about these things. The important thing is that you have the compassion and integrity to treat people with dignity and respect.

Rewards and benefits

  • 20 days’ paid holiday plus 8 bank holidays, increasing after 3 and 5 years
  • Employer’s pension contribution, childcare vouchers and season ticket loan
  • Fully paid training and access to nationally recognised qualifications
  • Discounts from over 3,500 retailers

Plus the chance to make a positive difference to someone’s life every day - which is the biggest perk of all!

So what are you waiting for? Apply now! We look forward to receiving your application.
