Our client is a globally recognised company specialising in metal surface treatments servicing military, aerospace and automotive industries. At the Chester Division our client’s sole business is shot peening service process.

An opportunity has arisen for a Quality Inspector. The position requires you to maintain an efficient service to the customers both internal and external by ensuring all part are inspected, machinery and equipment is calibrated in a timely fasten.

The ideal candidates will have own transport, physically fit, good knowledge of working in a within a medium to large sized manufacturing industry. You must also be used to working in a fast paced environment and working under pressure

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Inspecting and handling large and small detailed alloy aircraft components from customers, inspecting them using all products to include wing panel and other wing components, gears and shafts, inspecting Almen Strips
  • Visually inspecting parts for surface defects and reporting non-conformities
  • Inspecting wet and dry decontaminated parts
  • Completing shot sampling analysis for all machines using sieves and shot shaker machine
  • Calibrating air pressure gauges using master gauge and test rig
  • Ensuring all inspections are recorded to company procedures in line with customer requirements
  • Identifying parts by their tags engravings etc.
  • Checking documentation is correct and matches parts sent for processing and reporting any non-conforming parts or documentation
  • When parts are completed verifying all operations have been completed, then complete company certification for the products.

You will also be required to work in goods receiving department to book in parts, and check all paperwork received with deliveries and customer liaison. 

You will be required to maintain and complete accurate documents and records in accordance with company procedures.

  • Excellent attention to detail in completing work tasks and identifying defect
  • Good computer skills
  • Reliable, responsible and dependable fulfilling obligations
  • Job requires maintaining composure even in difficult situations and work well under pressure
  • Competent using all inspecting equipment i.e10x magnifiers, UV torch, veneers, DTI Almen gauges and calibration equipment
  • Working knowledge of AS9100, NADCAP and Calibration
  • Must be flexible

Lines of communication:

You will report directly toQuality Engineer & Supervisor.

You must be able to communicate with all levels of the organisation including office staff and management, other Inspectors, charge hands and supervisors to ensure effective operations.
