A great opportunity has arisen for talented individuals to join our team as Lead Engineer Steam Turbines.

Our growing nuclear business is a world-leader in nuclear submarine systems and support services focusing on design, procurement and operations.

Key Accountabilities:

- Apply technical expertise to produce design solutions; Ability to use Unigraphics NX CAD and Teamcenter PLM (considered an asset).
- Deliver component technical attributes to required quality, time, cost and specification.
- Understand and clearly articulate applicable risks and manage as appropriate with the project.
- Deliver designs which integrate operational experience and lessons learnt, in accordance with standard processes and best practice.
- Deliver robust, low cost designs that are optimised in accordance with Supply Chain Manufacturing Capability.
- Undertake appropriate technical reviews to ensure that quality is maintained throughout the product lifecycle.
- Manage technical and cross-functional interfaces to ensure that coherent technical solutions are achieved.
- Prioritise and lead all activities for the assigned product to ensure on time delivery, cost and quality is achieved for all project deliverables.

Qualifications:

- Qualified to degree level or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven technical leadership skills in the delivery of significant component design programmes to time, cost and quality.
- In-depth knowledge of the operational principles, design and manufacture of large rotating equipment.
- Experience in the interpretation of customer specifications, requirements definition and management.
- Experience in leading the development of design solutions from initial concept through to detailed design definition.
- Experience in the application of the Rolls-Royce Design Process, Design for X and trade-off studies to ensure an optimum design solution.
- Experience of development and implementation of requirements verification & validation at various stages of design maturity.
- Excellent planning and organising skills to manage all programme activities and deliverable.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

- Chartered Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of 10 years design experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively with any audience, quickly establishing credibility and buy-in.
- Ability to integrate well within a project team in a commercial environment.
- Appreciation of the operational principles and features of steam turbines with knowledge of steam turbine failure / degradation mechanisms, diagnostics and repair techniques (considered an asset).
- Ability to interpret Finite Element (FE) Analysis results; Experience of FE modelling (considered an asset).
- Rotor Dynamics analysis and experience in the use of Rotor Dyne (considered an asset).
- Application and interpretation of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) (considered an asset).
