What is the purpose of this role?
The purpose of this role is to lead, coordinate, train and develop a team of 4 to provide and deliver a high quality testing service of manufacturers and suppliers of materials using in water supply/distribution and building installations. You will ensure the preparation of commercial quotations, analysis of samples & reporting of test results is carried out in accordance with laboratory procedures & quality management systems. You will also ensure we meet the requirements of our regulators.

What will this role involve?
This role will involve:
Managing all the people aspects of a small team in line with company policy.
Developing and contributing towards operational efficiency.
Optimising service delivery to our customers, in line with service level agreements and key performance indicators.
Maintaining the quality system in line with regulations and in-house quality procedures/manuals.
Developing and implementing a process of continuous improvement within the department.
Maintaining a high level of employee engagement within the team.
Designing and building on development plans for all team members.
To manage the Health, Safety & Wellbeing of myself & my team, adhering to H&S policies & procedures.
What skills are we looking for?
To be considered for this role you must have a scientific background (A-Levels and above) and you must be able to demonstrate relevant industry experience and solid technical understanding.
The ideal candidate will have strong business and commercial awareness, and can think about the team's goals both independently and within the organisation as a whole. The ability to lead, manage, motivate and develop people within a team is vital. Good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills are imperative. We are looking for someone who can work well under pressure and prioritise intelligently to react to issues when they arise. Please note you will need to be fully competent on MS Office suite.
This role is based at our Spencer House Laboratory in Reading. We are offering a salary of up to GBP32,000, depending on skills and experience.
