Nacro is a social justice charity. It helps vulnerable people to change their lives and to reach their full potential by addressing social exclusion, inequality of opportunity and deprivation. We design and deliver services that equip people with the skills, advice, attitude and support they need to move their lives on and to become part of their community. Our services cover education, housing, substance misuse treatment and the prevention of reoffending.

Nacro's Supporting Women in the Community & Home project is funded by The Big Lottery Reaching Communities Fund.

An essential part of the service delivery is to provide mentoring support through Volunteers. The women we support are likely to have chaotic lifestyles where most will be younger, vulnerable, quite often a single parent and at risk of offending or are ex-offenders. Fundamental is the recruitment of Peer volunteer mentors, who have either been successfully supported by the project or have overcome complex issues to a stable life, living within the same communities, who can share their own experiences and give motivation and confidence to others.

We are looking for a Mentor Coordinator to create a diverse volunteer group including Peer Mentors to provide emotional support to women ensuring achievement of the project outcomes, which include stabilising the family home in suitable and safe accommodation, supporting women to take practical, positive life changing steps and facilitate an active Service User Advice Group. This work will take place in women's homes and in community venues.

The successful candidate should have:
- Experience of mentoring and preferably managing a team of mentors
- The ability to establish effective referral systems and to liaise and negotiate with colleagues; both Nacro and other support organisations
- The ability to develop links with community agencies
- The principles of mentoring in particular unpaid volunteering.
- A clear understanding of the needs of vulnerable groups, the needs of offenders, ex-offenders and those at risk of offending.
- An understanding of what is needed by way of your individual performance to ensure contract compliance.
