Senior Electrical Engineer

Scotrenewables is an exciting renewable energy engineering company specialising in harnessing the earth's natural resources through the development of pioneering technology that converts energy from tidal currents into clean, renewable electricity. The company is looking for a highly motivated Senior Electrical Engineer to join the business at a key stage in its growth cycle as it pushes towards the commercialisation its world leading, floating tidal energy technology.

The position could be based in either the company's Edinburgh or Orkney offices, with travel between sites expected as well as suppliers and manufacturing sites around the UK.

Role will include:

- Design, specification, procurement, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of electronic/control, electromechanical and electrical systems up to 1000V including power generation equipment (generator/drive systems), switchgear, transformers, connection systems and subsea cabling.
- Assist Electrical Engineering Manager to ensure all work is performed in compliance with all regulatory authorities, SRTP Electrical Safety Rules and SRTP Safety Management Systems.
- Working with other internal engineering departments and suppliers to successfully integrate all electrical, control, instrumentation and hydraulic hardware and software systems necessary for operation of generation and auxiliary systems.
- Liaise with other discipline engineers to gain a full understanding of the requirements of the turbine control system in interfacing with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and communication systems.
- Work to ensure compliance with DNO and other requirements and standards for grid connection.
- Management of suppliers for delivery of technical services and equipment supply.
- Supervision and co-ordination of electrical technicians as required.
- When necessary, working at manufacturing and supplier's sites to assist with testing, integration and commissioning of electrical and electromechanical systems.
- Performing and assisting with all aspects of offshore testing.

Ideally candidates will possess:

- A degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or similar.
- Experience at a similar level with analogous power generation equipment and systems.
- Experience with electrical systems and equipment in offshore, remote applications including subsea electrical engineering experience.
- Excellent team working and communication skills and track record of problem solving in innovation/R&D function with limited resources.
- Training in HV switching.
- Experience working in the renewables sector would be an advantage.
