Job Description

The Quality Engineer will join the Quality Control Department reporting to the Quality Manager.

Working in an environment whereby safety and quality is of paramount importance, the responsibilities of the Quality Engineer primarily focus on QMS compliance within the Quality Control laboratory, as well as providing technical support to other departments to ensure products are manufactured to high standards of quality from raw material status to finished product.

The role involves liaising with customers, suppliers and working in cross functional teams to resolve any compliance issues, via control plans, PFMEA and 8Ds; and ensuring all corrective and preventative actions are deployed throughout the site. Analysis and interpretation of test/process data trends is a key part of the role in order to support improvement and manufacturing excellence in line with TS16949 and market expectations.

Responsibilities include:

- To be the focal point for all product related quality issues in the business
- To resolve customer complaints following the 8D process, and ensuring that all corrective and preventive actions are deployed within the site using the appropriate tools and techniques
- To liaise with suppliers in the event of non-conforming incoming product, ensuring that the 8D process is maintained and ensure Supplier ratings are maintained
- To review quality test data and assess all findings against internal/external customer specifications and determine and deliver subsequent actions
- Perform quality audits, reporting on findings and reviewing corrective and preventive actions
- Study of Process Deviations and Non-Conforming Products to improve quality and efficiency
- Review and complete FMEA and Control Plans ensuring the continual improvement of the process is maintained
- Analyse production and business data in order to monitor business performance, reporting Quality Key Performance Indicators (KPI), including reject ppm (parts per million), reject COPQ (cost of poor quality)
- Support the APQP and NPI activities and deliver any PPAP requirements.
- To support the QC team in developing SOPs, testing methods and risk assessments
- Liaise with other departments and functions ensuring all internal/external customer needs are met
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement
- Administer the quality portal, resolving any issues as well as providing cord data studies as required
- Liaise with any contractors and issue Permit to Work documents for the QC Lab

The Individual:

- The successful candidate will be required to work flexibly/multi task within the Quality Control, Continuous Improvement and Production teams to achieve set standards/targets; using safe operating procedures relevant to the work area at all times.
- It will also be necessary to work unsupervised and, therefore, the job holder should be capable of identifying and managing workload to ensure internal/external customer requirements are met.
- This will involve effective communication with all cross functional team members in particular Production. Knowledge of quality systems (ISO 9001 and TS16949) and an associated qualification may be an advantage.
- Analytical and problem solving skills, along with accuracy/attention to detail are required
