HGV 2
To undertake refuse and recycling collection driving duties, either individually or part of a team.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
?? To undertake the collection of refuse and recycling, and to tip waste at a designated site.
?? Responsible for the removal of household, commercial and green waste.
?? To carry out vehicle checks and required routine maintenance as per the daily check sheet
?? To carry out cleaning of the exterior of the vehicle as directed.
?? To ensure a high standard of customer service at all times, and maintain a good relationship with the public and client officers.
?? To empty wheeled bins as required, using the bin lifts provided.
?? To be prepared to participate in emergency work when required.
Essential
?? The ability to demonstrate an understanding of good customer care.
?? Knowledge and understanding of general health and safety issues.
?? The ability to work alone or as part of a team.
?? The applicant must be physically fit.
?? The ability to organise other members of staff
?? Experience of driving a HGV vehicle and of carrying out routine maintenance, including keeping the vehicle clean inside and out.
?? Possession of a valid and current LGV category C (old HGV2) Driving Licence.
?? The ability to work outside normal working hours, including weekends and Bank Holidays to respond to the needs of the service. This may include overtime as required.
?? Candidates must demonstrate understanding of, acceptance and commitment to the principals underlying equality.
?? Knowledge and understanding of effective customer care.
Desirable
?? Knowledge of manual handling.
?? The ability to communicate information both orally and in writing with members of the public, employees and clients (which may include facilitation via sign language interpreter etc.)
?? Experience of recycling collection within public or private sector.
