Position: Building Services Engineering (BSE) Design Advanced Apprentice

About the role:

This apprenticeship is designed to equip individuals for a career as a building services design engineer. This apprenticeship offers a combination of office based and site based work and will include some outdoor work on building sites and partially completed structures.

Responsibilities:

- Using computer software to produce designs for heating and cooling systems, ventilation systems and domestic water systems
- Carrying out computer simulation modelling to measure a building's energy and system performance
- Using computer software to produce designs for internal and external lighting systems
- Using computer software to design electrical power distribution systems for buildings
- Understanding and applying renewable technologies (including photovoltaic systems, wind turbines, etc.) to buildings and the design of building systems
- Working with the Building Information Modelling (BIM) team and assisting with the production of BIM models
- Ensuring that the company's Health, Safety & Environmental policies and procedures are constantly adhered to in all aspects of building services designs
- Learning how to work in collaboration with all business functions to produce engineered solutions

Apprenticeship consists of:

- Level 3 NVQ certificate in engineering technology and project management
- BTEC National Diploma in building services engineering
- Level 2 functional skills in maths, English and ICT
- Employee rights and responsibilities

The 4 year apprenticeship programme consists of both offsite and onsite training and assessment. All offsite training is carried out at Leeds College of Building. You may be required to stay in Leeds for 2 weeks blocks (returning home at weekends) for 12 weeks during the academic year. Whilst attending the offsite training your accommodation will be provided and funded by NG Bailey.

Once your apprenticeship is completed, high performing individuals may have the opportunity to progress through the company's various development programmes to higher level qualifications.

About you:

Grade B / 6 or above in GCSE (or equivalent) English language, maths and a science based subject, plus 2 other subjects at grade B / 6 or above. In order to be successful on their apprenticeship programme you must be driven, dedicated, hardworking and enjoy working as part of a team.
