Transport Manager

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a profitable, well-resourced and growing food business in the Central Midlands. They require an experienced Transport Manager who can maximise the performance of this 24 hour operation by directing the daily, weekly and monthly activities; providing leadership, motivation, training and development of the workforce, executing against customer requirements, operational performance. The fleet vehicles are a mixture of ambient, chilled and tankers.

The Position

- Build an effective team to help ensure the achievement of the Company's obligations to its customers by providing good customer service and maintaining SLA's.
- Recruitment, management and development of drivers and transport team.
- Ensure maximum vehicle fill at all times through scheduling and planning of transport operation and sourcing backloads.
- Manage department budget including maintenance and repair and plan all vehicle routes as cost efficiently as possible.
- Strict compliance with company and local and statutory obligations regarding Health & Safety and quality, working time legislation, operator licensing etc.

The person

- Experience in a Transport Manager/ Transport Supervisor position
- Comfortable dealing with disciplinary issues
- Experience of managing a fleet of vehicles and drivers
- Excellent track record of customer service
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Possess a National CPC
- Calm under pressure when dealing with both colleague and customer
