Senior Flood Risk/Resilience Engineer

Location: Leeds / Birmingham / Reading / Exeter

We are looking to fill roles in various locations for Senior Flood Risk / Flood Resilience Engineers within a large international, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy. The consultancy has an increasing workload due to numerous tender wins within the water discipline and has an urgent need for a number of senior civil engineers with a background in water engineering. This is an exciting time to become part of, and lead, a growing team of enthusiastic water engineers, hydrologists, technicians and graduates. Hence, an ability to mentor other employees is a highly desirable trait for any applicant.

The ideal candidate will be (nearly) Chartered or Incorporated with either the ICE (Institute of Civil Engineers) or the CIWEM (Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management) and have a number of years` experience in water-based projects to draw on (ideally both site-based and design-based). This post will give the opportunity for someone to both oversee the design process of their own projects as well as gain more on-site experience in major civils projects. Whilst no specific software packages are required for this role, previous experience working with modelling software such as ISIS or TUFLOW would be an advantage.

Previous experience of working with water companies, lead local flood authorities and the Environment Agency on flood and drainage projects is very desirable. This post offers the opportunity to continue working with these entities on large-scale civil projects and gain more exposure. A practical knowledge of earthworks, urban drainage design and maintenance work is desirable, but not a pre-requisite for this role.

Job Requirements:

- Master`s Degree in Civil/Water Engineering (or relevant discipline)
- Chartered with ICE/CIWEM
- Experience of Flood Risk Assessments/Flood Resilience Planning
- Experience of large-scale civil water projects
- Previous experience of working with local flood authorities/Environment agency
- Planning/designing SuDS
- Lead/mentor other team members
- Experience of ISIS / TUFLOW / other relevant modelling software (desirable)
