Equipment Maintenance Engineer
Based in Wallingford (Oxfordshire)
40 Hours per week

Our client is an international specialist in onshore and coastal engineering geophysical investigation of the ground and the built environment. As part of the global Group of geoscience companies they can offer a career within a small friendly team that provided the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of exciting global projects.

They currently have an exciting opportunity for an Equipment Maintenance Engineer to join their team based in Wallingford.

The company has a fleet of advanced geophysical survey equipment which must be maintained in a state of readiness to ensure high-quality data collection. You will ideally have a working knowledge of a wide range of borehole and land based geophysical instrumentation and will be primarily responsible for the preventative maintenance, repair, test and calibration of this apparatus. Your workload will be varied and challenging, and this will require a candidate with a similarly diverse range of competencies, skills and attributes.

Your duties may require you to travel both within the UK and Worldwide.

Duties to include

  • Testing and calibrating (if appropriate) geophysical equipment to conformance standards
  • Preventative maintenance and routine servicing of equipment
  • Diagnosing and repairing faulty equipment, or recommending replacements, in consultation with Fugro colleagues and suppliers as necessary
  • Deploying to site location to effect the above tasks if required
  • Reviewing and seeking to continually improve existing processes, protocols and tools
  • Instructing and training staff in specific technical areas
  • Maintaining appropriate records, preparing written technical instructions and procedures
  • Employing soldering, hand and power tools as required
  • Basic warehousing and accountancy of geophysical equipment

What you will need as a minimum

  • HNC or Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Systematic and competent diagnostics methodology
  • Experience in the use and maintenance of slim-hole wireline and land seismic geophysical equipment would be highly advantageous
  • UK driving licence
  • IT literate
  • Flexible, proactive and adaptable to meet unexpected demands with tight time constraints
  • Able to work calmly and with integrity in teams under pressure
