Our support centres not only assist those in the sector but also serves the local and wider communities. Our cottageHOMES services provide high quality supported living and extra-care accommodation for those retired from service to retail.
We are recruiting for a Housing Management Assistant to join us at our Derby estate. Working as part of the Housing team, you will ensure that the highest standards are maintained for the beneficiaries of retailTRUST and that the charity meets the requirements and spirit of the Residents’ Charter.
As part of the role, you will...
- Assist in tenancy management matters, ensure residents understand tenancy issues, rights and responsibilities in accordance with their Tenancy Agreement.
- Undertake visits and provide housing management advice and services to estate residents ·Liaise with and update the Estate Manager regarding any resident’s issues or problems.
- Answer daytime call-outs from residents and assist when necessary
- Provide personal care in an emergency
- Liaise with all other retailTRUST departments and volunteers regarding the needs of residents
- Promote good communication between the residents and the management team
- Provide cover in the absence of other members of the Housing Management Team.
- Assist Managers in implementing quality assurance initiatives to improve the standards and the development of services offered by the charity.
- Undertake an intensive management service assessing security, health and safety checks in and around the home.
- Maintain individual records and diary in accordance with retailTRUST’s procedures.
- Refer requests for aids and adaptations to be installed in and around the home where required to the Estate Manager.
- Work with the Finance Officer to assist residents to pay rent and service charges, ensuring that the process is understood and agreements for repayment of any debt are made.
The ideal individual will have previous experience of working with the elderly (gained either in employment or in a voluntary capacity) and be educated to NVQ Level 2/3. The successful applicant will enjoy working as part of a team, but capable of working independently and able to use their own initiative. The Housing Management Assistant must be flexible as they will be expected to work on a rota basis, working 21 hours per week (3 days) over a 7 day period, including working every one in three weekends.
This role is offered on a six month temporary basis, with the possibility of the role becoming permanent.
