A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a General Manager / Managing Director Designate to join a manufacturer of precision engineered industrial parts for the aerospace, military, medical, and automotive sectors. The GBP12M to GBP14M turnover company based in South Yorkshire is currently undergoing a period of exciting change, through improvement in manufacturing excellence and operational efficiency using lean principles, and require a dynamic and driven
General Manager / Managing Director Designate
Working closely with, and reporting to the MD, initially to identify and implement continuing improvements throughout the business, you will provide focus and leadership for engineering development activities within the company In time you will be expected to plan, organise, lead and run the business as Managing Director with full profit & loss responsibility.
To be considered for this key role you must have:
- A hands-on, team oriented approach with a real enthusiasm for improvement and change.
- Experience of working in a manufacturing environment where processes have included manual / CNC grinding, machining, and assembly.
- An understanding of Lean Principles, SMED, Kanbans, Single-piece flow, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen and 5S.
- Strong negotiation skills, with previous experience of meeting customers and all parties in the supply chain.
- Sound business acumen and the ability to own a problem with the vision and skills to solve it.
- Excellent coaching, communication and organisation skills.
- Degree level qualification in a mechanical or manufacturing engineering discipline.
- The technical ability to develop systems, technology, people and processes.
- High level of numeracy, excellent written and spoken English and a good understanding of IT and manufacturing systems.
- Ambition, energy and focus, and to be able to demonstrate a track record in pre-empting and solving problems.
This position as General Manager / Managing Director Designate is not for the faint hearted; however for the right candidate, with vision and ambition, the prospects for progression to MD are very real.
