Western Power Distribution are looking for people to join their formal apprenticeship scheme to work in Surf Telecoms, IR Comms or DSO Technology Support.
In this role you will be working in a team that is responsible for managing and providing voice and data communication services to WPD offices and its staff. This includes the design, management, installation and support of the WANS, LANS and VOIP, including network security.
Successful candidates will have at least, or be expected to achieve, two ‘A' levels at grades A - C in Mathematics and one of the following; Physics, ICT, Computing or Design and Technology. Alternatively a relevant Level 3 or Level 4 qualification will be considered. Please ensure that you provide details of your qualifications on your application form, and be prepared to provide proof of these qualifications upon request.
Training will be provided on-the-job and during formal courses held in our Training Centre at Taunton over a period of approximately four years. Successful candidates will also be expected to study for, and achieve a City and Guilds Qualification.
The majority of the on-the-job training will take place within local teams, but you may be required to undertake placements at other locations across the WPD service area, so you need to be flexible and able to travel.
