Chief Hardware Specialist

- Being the figurehead of 'Hardware Development', both internal and external (e.g. customer) facing.
- Ensuring the role of the team can be fulfilled by understanding its needs and by facilitating its requirements
- Leading and mentoring the Hardware team
- The effective line management, operation and development of their team
- The recruitment and personal development of the team members.
- Being the technical authority for Hardware
- Administrative tasks for the team such as annual leave approval, sickness recording and minor disciplinary matters
- Actively working with all Chief Specialists to continuously improve inter-team relationships

- Ensuring that hardware development follows the company hardware and quality procedures.
- Reviewing, improving, maintaining and creating hardware development procedures.
- Identification of methods to improve quality and efficiency of hardware development activities.
- Hardware development activities including: - Working with sales, marketing and engineering to define product specifications
- Interpret product specifications to produce hardware functional specifications
- Hardware design
- Hardware verification and validation
- Documentation of hardware
- Safety of hardware designReporting

- The Chief Hardware Specialist reports to the Heads of Development.
- All members of the hardware team report to the Chief Hardware Specialist.Performance
