Cintra Language Services is a leading provider of interpreting and translation services to public services and businesses. We specialise in providing highly trained and qualified interpreters and translators 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
With 20 years' experience as a language services agency with an excellent reputation, we have direct contracts with a number of police forces in the Midlands and East Anglia for interpreting and translation services. We also supply linguists to courts and tribunals and have many major clients in the public sector (including probation, NHS, local government) and in the business sector. We're looking to recruit more interpreters, particularly to service our new police force clients in the Midlands.
Interpreter - The role:
You will be performing freelance law sector interpreting, face to face, in a range of settings including the police forces (interviewing suspects, obtaining statements from witnesses), courts, probation andfor solicitors. Note: Interpreting work in the police sector could occur 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, usually at short notice (e.g. 2 hours or less).
Interpreter - The ideal candidate has:
An advanced level interpreting qualification such as a Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI), a Diploma in Police Interpreting (DPI), a language degree with an interpreting component, or a member of the National Register of Public Services Interpreters or National Register of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind people.
Interpreting experience in the criminal justice sector, particularly in police work.
Good knowledge of police procedures and common criminal offences an advantage.
