We are seeking an Assistant Visitor Services Manager to supervise a team of staff and volunteers at the Somerset Rural Life Museum in Glastonbury. The Museum is undergoing a £2.4 million re-development which is due to be completed by spring 2017. The project will create new learning and visitor facilities and refurbish the gallery displays throughout the site.
Working with the Visitor Services Manager, the post holder will be responsible for the daily supervision of the Visitor Services Team and volunteers at the museum. As the first point of contact with our visitors, we expect the highest standards of customer care from you and your team to ensure that a professional and welcoming service is provided to all visitors at all times.
You will also act as Premises Supervisor for the site, when necessary, liaising with contractors to ensure the security, maintenance and cleanliness of the buildings, grounds and collections, and the safety of staff and visitors.
You will need excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and have a practical knowledge of health and safety and premises issues, together with a good level of ICT competency. You should also have a genuine enthusiasm for Somerset’s history and heritage, and be keen to share this to inform and inspire our visitors.
Maximum flexibility, and the ability to work additional hours/overtime, sometimes at short notice, is essential.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Somerset Rural Life Museum team as it gears up for opening in spring 2017.
