Seasonal Adventure Instructor and Driver

No previous experience is required, just an outdoors adventurous nature along with willingness and flexibility to always deliver excellent customer service.

Zip World offers a unique range of special adventures, including the longest zip line in Europe and the fastest in the world. Receiving international acclaim since its inception in 2013, the award-winning company has grown into one of the must-see attractions for thrill seekers around the world. The business has nearly 250 employees operating eleven unique adventures at three stunning locations in North Wales, from zip lines to the world’s first subterranean playground, located at Zip World Penrhyn Quarry, Zip World Slate Caverns, and Zip World Fforest.

Whether you secure an opportunity primarily as an Instructor or Driver, flexibility with duties will be needed to cover other roles. As part of the Zip World team, you’ll be provided with comprehensive training to ensure you learn all the ins and outs of the sites you’ll be working at, enabling you to provide a very safe and highly memorable experience to all customers, ensuring they receive unrivalled customer service.

As an Instructor, you’ll work closely with experienced members of the team who will help develop your customer and technical skills. You’ll be trained in using the radios and kitting up and clipping customers on and you’ll have the opportunity to work at all locations on sites, providing you with a good understanding of how the sites work in a variety of conditions.

Drivers are based at Penrhyn Quarry and are responsible for transporting customers safely up the mountain road to the top of the Big Zip, aboard the company’s iconic red 4WD trucks. Duties will include supervising customers as they board and disembark the trucks, conducting the quarry tour, delivering trolleys for the Big Zip and briefing customers.

Previous experience is not required to be considered for the roles available, however the following attributes are essential;

  • Professional strong work ethic with exceptionally high standard for safety
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of internal and external contacts
  • Highly focused on delivering excellent customer service
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and using own initiative
  • Energetic, articulate and passionate
  • A valid UK Driving Licence

Previous HGV experience is desirable for the role of Driver, however not essential as full training will be provided. Please note that due to insurance requirements, to be considered for a Driver role at Zip World you need to be at least 25 years old.

It is not essential to hold a host of qualifications in relation to the outdoors although for both roles you will be required to hold a recognised, in date, first aid certificate to emergency first aid at work level. If you do not currently hold such a qualification, you will be required to complete a course organised by Zip World on commencement of your employment at a cost to yourself.

Pay rate:                       During initial training period meets National Minimum / Living Wage rate, increasing to £8.50 per hour after completion.

                                    Once all competencies and criteria have been met, the pay rate will rise to £9.62 per hour.

Contract Type:              Zero hours contract.

Working Hours:             Weekends, bank holidays and school holidays are the busiest attraction times, therefore your working hours will be reflective of this.

Start Date:                    Around March 2017, with some possible intakes between March and June.

Location:                      Although you may gain employment at one specific Zip World site at either Bethesda, Blaenau Ffestiniog or Betws Y Coed (North Wales), you may also be asked to work across other sites.
