Marketing Manager

Are you a focused and results driven Marketing Manager, who would love the opportunity to join one of North Wales’ leading tourist attractions? Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways are looking for an experienced Marketing Manager with a passion for tourism, to join and lead the Porthmadog based Marketing team and craft a marketing strategy to build on recent success and drive the business forward.

With almost 200 years of history, the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways is a jewel in the crown of North Wales’ thriving tourism industry. Stretching for over 40 miles through the glorious Snowdonia National Park, the railway offers an unrivalled journey back into the golden age of rail travel on some of the most comfortable carriages on any heritage railway in the UK. Based from the Porthmadog Harbour Station which has undergone a £1.25 million pound redevelopment, the friendly, passionate and dedicated team of employees and volunteers provide a memorable experience for visitors from all over the world.

Reporting to the General Manager, as the Marketing Manager you will be focused on developing and delivering a three year rolling marketing plan to deliver growth in visitor numbers and revenue, and maximise the return from significant ongoing investment into the business. Your responsibilities and duties will include, although not to be limited to:

  • Driving the marketing strategy in close cooperation with the Board and General Manager
  • Leading, shaping and managing the Marketing team
  • Taking a hands-on role and working closely with the Marketing team and external suppliers to execute campaigns through direct mail, email, POS, website, social media, and advertising (print and online)
  • Coordinating highly pro-active public relations campaigns
  • Shaping and developing the online strategy in order to increase awareness of the railway’s website and social media accounts
  • Managing the production of video content for use across all digital media
  • Monitoring and managing the marketing budgets by comparing actual results with plans and forecasts
  • Managing the internal corporate communications
  • Conducting analysis on marketing activities and preparing reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising sales data
  • Planning and coordinating trade shows and exhibitions

To be considered for the role of Marketing Manager you should have the following qualifications, experience, skills, knowledge and attributes:

  • Proven experience as a Marketing Manager in a B2C environment
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, in Marketing or a related discipline
  • Good understanding and knowledge of the tourism industry
  • Strong strategic marketing experience with the ability to demonstrate results through effective marketing
  • Knowledge and appreciation of the issues surrounding the heritage sector and volunteer centric organisations
  • High level of verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical approach with a superb commercial awareness
  • Highly proficient in IT, with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with people at all levels
  • Ability to prioritise and adapt quickly and flexibility towards tasks

The ability to speak the Welsh language would be advantageous.

 In return:

Salary:                          £30,000 -£35,000 per annum, level dependent on current experience and qualifications

Hours of Work:              9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Flexibility will be required to support business needs

  • Cydlynu ymgyrchoedd cysylltiadau cyhoeddus hynod rhagweithiol
  • Llunio a datblygu'r strategaeth ar-lein er mwyn cynyddu ymwybyddiaeth o’r wefan a'r gyfrifon cyfryngau cymdeithasol y rheilffordd
  • Rheoli'r gynhyrchu cynnwys fideo i'w defnyddio ar draws yr holl gyfryngau digidol
