Finance & Data Controller

Multi award-winning Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity, Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal, is expanding and looking to recruit for a newly-created position of Finance & Data Controller to join our busy team based in central Bristol.

Celebrating over 21 years of fundraising, The Grand Appeal is one of Bristol’s most well-known charities, responsible for both the Gromit Unleashed/Shaun in the City art trails, the flagship Wallace & Gromit’s Charity Shop at The Mall at Cribbs Causeway and for Cots for Tots House Family Accommodation. The Grand Appeal has raised over £40 million supporting sick children in hospital.

This new position is created at a very exciting time in the charity’s organisational development. The Finance and Data Controller will provide comprehensive support to the Directorship in preparing, developing and analyzing financial data on all aspects of the charity’s activities and contribute to the overall financial appraisal of the organisation’s performance. The controller will provide professional business support to the Director and play a key role in financial planning, forecasting and reporting on performance, through the production of accounts and other analytical reports as required. Sound financial accounting knowledge and experience in the preparation of budgets, forecasts and management accounting is a pre-requisite.

Previous experience in the charity sector is desirable, as is a recognised professional accountancy qualification. The role will require excellent organisational and communication skills with excellent IT skills and advanced knowledge of accounting software. The post-holder will have a positive problem-solving attitude, be numerate and logical with the ability to analyse and interpret complex information.
