Adult Social Care are looking to appoint an additional Handyperson Technician to join its existing team, providing vital preventative services to older and disabled residents, living in their own homes.

The Service provides and installs minor adaptations, such as stair rails, handrails and grabs rails, external step reforms, Telecare and sensory loss equipment to assist Stockport residents to remain living at home as independently and safely as possible.

You will have good practical skills, experience of carrying out repairs within domestic properties, a background in the construction industry or experience of carrying out a range of DIY to a high standard.

Strong customer care and interpersonal skills with a positive can do attitude are essential. You will also need to be able to deal with a heavy and physically demanding caseload whilst maintaining a professional approach at all times.

Successful applicants from the formal interview stage will be asked to attend a further session giving opportunity to demonstrate practical skills. A portfolio / photographs outlining examples of work/ projects carried out, with references, will be required. At the session a practical task will also be undertaken.

Successful completion of DBS check is required and a current driving licence is essential as is the requirement to pass the Council's driving test.
