Design Engineer, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire
We are recruiting for a Design Engineer on behalf of a leading Company who are at the forefront of the railroad revolution, with a blend of history and innovation that drives them each day.
The Company, part of a larger leading Company, have a number of facilities in the UK; where they undertake the manufacture of specialist parts for the rail industry, with around three quarters of their product going into the rail infrastructure in the UK. They take pride in the high standard of their product and the service that they deliver to their customers.
The Design Engineer Role:
Responsible, under supervision of a Senior Engineer, for the design and development of engineering products from the justification stage, through to provision of documentation and technical support in service. This includes the interfaces with related equipment, assembly, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal aspects.
Responsibilities Include:
- Design, development and safety validation of engineering products for inclusion in rail track systems, ensuring lowest manufacture / installation costs are considered
- Improvement of existing products, processes and design tools
- Comparison of alternative design solutions
- Producing designs for assessment and formal acceptance of product designs through sign-off of drawings and reports
- Provision of high quality, accurate work to established drawing, technical or engineering standards
- Use and assist in the development of emerging design tools
- Appreciation of product behaviour, manufacturability and maintainability issues
- Providing support to manufacturing operations
The Ideal Candidate will have:
- Masters degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- At least one year of relevant experience in a similar environment
- Be an innovative problem solver
- A knowledge of Finite Element Analysis would be a benefit
- Working knowledge of the Rail Industry preferred
Salary: £26,000 - £32,000 + 5% bonus + Benefits
