Job Role:

Our Client is the UK's leading waste-to-energy biodiesel producer with operations in Scotland and North West England and has always been privately owned. Their main plant, near Motherwell in Scotland, started production in 2005. Following significant investment to facilitate growth and development, a number of facilities are being built in the Stanlow area. The Company specialises in the production and supply of high grade, sustainable diesel made from waste fats and oils deliberately excluding any raw materials that could also be used for food or feed.

There is also a wider strategy for the manufacture, blending and distribution of its bio-fuels business within the UK. As part of the acquisition comes with it an intense and varied capital investment program for the refurbishment of existing assets through to complex power generation projects. The longer term strategy for the terminal is to grow the business through capital investment and development of the team so that the Terminal becomes a significantly large hub for the blending and distribution of road diesel within the UK.

They are currently looking to recruit for a Plant Supervisor who will be working within their team of Operators, responsible for ensuring the safe and effective transfers and blends of fuel components in to and out of the Oil Terminal.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • The safe loading and discharge of fuel components in to and out of AOT's terminal.
  • Lead terminal operators and manage operational workload throughout a 24/7 shift pattern.
  • Ensures the optimum of performance from the sites new biomass installation, including all bulk fuel movements from other production sites.
  • Ensure that the PSSR regulations are adhered to and equipment is handed over in time to engineering for all statutory
  • Supervising and working with AOT's team of Operators, ensuring that receipts, deliveries, tank to tank transfers and blends are carried out efficiently and safely with good record keeping.
  • Ensure that waste consignment notes are managed correctly for waste coming into and out of site.
  • Record and log hazards and near misses as appropriate.
  • Sampling and dipping of tanks for quality, stock records and testing.
  • Carrying out first line maintenance and operational PPMs.
  • Overseeing site inductions for all new drivers and sub-contractors, ensuring adherence to the sites work authorisation procedure always.
  • Ensuring that the operations team and 3rd party contractors/hauliers all adhere to the HSE requirements.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness and housekeeping of the site roads, loading/receipt bays, bund areas, lube plant & pump house.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the site boilers and pressure washers are kept fuelled and the slops IBC's are emptied when required.
  • Responsible for issuing permits to work and ensuring the work authorisation procedure is being adhered to in full.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

Qualifications

  • HNC or equivalent in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Electrical Engineering
  • Lean manufacturing/six sigma qualification would be advantageous
  • NEBOSH certificate

Specific Knowledge, Experience & Skills

  • Knowledge of COMAH legislation and IPPC
  • Bulk fuel experience would be advantageous but not essential
  • Cost management experience is essential as is budget preparation
  • Computer literate with a good understanding of excel spreadsheets
