Hours: 1300hrs annualised contract
Salary: c£17,000 pro rata
Our client, a Southampton based College is looking to recruit a knowledgeable and self-motivated Bursary Officer to run the student financial support function. Reporting to the Finance Manager they will be responsible for understanding student eligibility for financial support, ordering and issuing bus passes and kit, and running the finance booth.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide 1300 hours of support during the year in a flexible pattern. The finance booth is open term time 11am to 1pm and time will be needed before and after for administration tasks. The peak workload is for the last two weeks of August and all of September during initial enrolment and student applications where the role is almost full time. After that December and March are busier where preparation for the next terms support is undertaken. An occasional day during college holidays may be required.
Candidates will need to have GCSE Maths to at least grade C and be confident in a customer service environment.
Experience of student financial support in the Further Education sector would be desirable, but more importantly the individual will have a commitment to the organisation and a hands on approach supporting students and ensuring the right financial support is issued.
