Our client is a local caterer of business buffets along with supplying event based catering for anniversary parties, weddings, funerals, etc. Alongside the buffet business they also run an onsite canteen for a local engineering company.

They are looking for an enthusiastic individual who has a passion and flair for catering. The role is very much hands on supporting the catering assistants in the delivery of high quality affordable food. Alongside this the kitchen supervisor will be responsible for stock management, sales, customer engagement and the promotion of the business, which could include visits to customer sites to discuss their catering requirements.

The role has flexible hours, with an excellent work life balance, including a minimum of 30 per week (Monday to Friday) with occasional weekend and evening working dependent on large private events. The role comes with an attractive benefits package including 29 holidays per year, company pension scheme and free meals during the working day. The successful candidate will also be afforded the use of the company van. The right candidate can expect to earn both sales and performance related bonuses on top of their salary.

Main Duties: 

•    Managing and assisting in the preparation of both hot and cold meals/ buffets
•    Stock checking, ordering and negotiating prices
•    Co-coordinating and assisting in the cleaning and efficient working of the kitchen
•    Ensure HACCP documentation is completed on a daily basis
•    Liaising with customers, ensuring full delivery of their orders 
•    Managing customer expectations and coordinating the delivery of their orders and events.  Overtime will be available for events in the evenings and at weekends.
•    To maintain a safe, clean and hygienic working environment, ensuring health and safety regulations are complied with at all times.
•    Working with the Director to ensure the efficient working and profitability of the business.
•    Ensuring the stock take, float checking and other financial elements are accounted for
•    Working with the Director to oversee the companies social media and marketing

Personal Skills and Attributes:

•    Catering qualification or equivalent with a food hygiene certificate preferred
•    Previous catering experience within a catering or professional kitchen environment
•    Have a passion for catering and professional service
•    Excellent customer service skills
•    Excellent communication skills
•    Reliable, punctual and professional attitude
•    Able to work autonomously
•    Commercial experience and business know how desirable
•    Experience within a supervisory role desirable
•    Full UK driving license would be desirable
•    Flexibility and availability to work on evenings or weekends from time to time as the workload dictates (typically this can be once or twice per month)
